of the greatest, under appreciated people of our century. I would like to start with Norman Borlaug, the leader of the plant genetic modification. He is responsible for saving of millions of lives through-out Mexico, India and Pakistan which his genetically modified grains. In 1970 he was award a Nobel Peace Prize for his work.

Do to groups such as Greenpeace that want to ban modified foods, many people today are starving. A prime example of the GM food scare is Zambia

With Norman Borlaug still alive today may we all hope he gets to see his work accepted and to see the millions of more lives he can and will save in our ever expanding population and shrinking agricultural land.

  1. He represents some of the very best aspects of human ingenuity and dedication to public service. An amazing human being.

  2. Dr. Borlaug epitomizes the best qualities of those working in sustainable development, a deep humanitarian concern with a practical approach that is unconstrained by political whims of the day. Long may he prosper!
